Admissions
We can help your child through the toughest times. We are eager to assist you in every way we can.
Below are some guidelines to help you prepare and ensure an easier admissions process.
Child & Adolescent Admissions, ages 4-17If your child is experiencing a behavioral crisis, or if you are a mental health provider, please call 912-354-3911 and ask to speak to an admissions counselor. He or she will first ask you some questions about the presenting problem. Once we get some basic information from you over the phone, here's what you can expect:
- We will schedule an immediate assessment with the potential patient.
- Once the assessment is complete, our intake counselor will make a recommendation for hospitalization to our physician who will then approve the admission.
- If the counselor, based on the information presented in the assessment, does not recommend inpatient treatment, the patient and their family will be given contact information for resources within their home community.
- Once we receive admitting orders from our physician, the patient will be admitted and will receive immediate attention from our clinical team.
If you believe your child has ongoing psychiatric illnesses or behavioral health needs, you may wish to speak to an admissions counselor about our programs. Please call 912-354-3911 and ask to speak to someone in Admissions. Referrals can be made by anyone, including parents, teachers, physicians, therapists, etc.
Since we admit patients from many states across the country into our Residential Program, we provide an online patient application. Please complete this yourself or have the person making the referral do so.
Please send your Referral and Online Patient Application to deena.schwabe@uhsinc.com
Adult Admissions, ages 18 and upWhether you're a doctor, counselor, loved one or are in crisis yourself, we will be dedicated to providing you with the highest quality of service the minute you call our Admissions Office at 912-354-3911. No referral is necessary and we are available 24-hours-a-day. Once we get some basic information from you over the phone, here's what you can expect:
- We will schedule an immediate assessment with the patient.
- Once the assessment is complete, our intake counselor will either recommend admission or make a referral for more appropriate care elsewhere.
- If admission is recommended, the intake counselor will receive admitting orders from our physician. At this time the patient will be admitted and will receive immediate attention from our clinical team.
