  About Us

There are times in life when we all need to reach out for help. We might turn to loved ones or friends in times of need, but occasionally additional assistance may be needed. If you or a loved one is having difficulty managing the activities of day-to-day life due to an emotional or psychiatric problem, Coastal Behavioral Health might be a resource for you. Our primary purpose is to provide crisis stabilization services to those that appear to be at risk of harming themselves or someone else.

Not since 2002 has Coastal Harbor Health System provided acute psychiatric inpatient treatment for adults. For years it has been our mission to develop a new and improved behavioral health hospital for adults in and around the Savannah area. In 2007, Coastal Harbor was granted a Certificate of Need by the state of Georgia and at once began the process of re-building the program. Our building at 633 Stephenson Avenue was completely redesigned for the purpose of providing top-quality acute psychiatric inpatient care for those aged 18 and over.

On March 5, 2009 we celebrated the grand opening of our 50-bed hospital to the enthusiasm of healthcare providers, professionals, community service agencies, and individuals throughout the region. We accepted our first patient on March 8 and have since been accepting patients from Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida. It is our privilege, once again, to help individuals and families begin a process of recovery.
