Coastal Harbor Treatment Center is a nationally recognized provider of behavioral health services for children and adolescents in need. Our Acute Care Program provides essential crisis stabilization and treatment for children and adolescents. We additionally offer an intensive and highly structured Residential or long-term treatment program for children and adolescents with chronic psychiatric illnesses and behavioral health needs. Our residential treatment includes specialized programs for children and adolescents with developmental and cognitive delays, sexually aggressive / reactive behaviors, and those with chronic behavior, family, academic, and legal difficulties. Coastal Harbor proudly utilizes an individualized treatment team approach for all our patients, acute and residential, to ensure that the treatment and services they receive specifically address their treatment needs. The departments that are intricately involved in our patient care are:

Nursing - We utilize round-the-clock nursing at our facility. Our Director of Nursing supervises a team of nurses, each of whom is licensed by the state of Georgia and participates in ongoing job-related training and education. Our nurses are actively involved in the care and treatment of each patient.

Clinical - Our Director of Clinical Services oversees a team of therapists, senior counselors and mental health assistants that work together to provide daily group and individual therapy with our patients. All our therapists have a master's degree, are licensed clinicians or are license-eligible. Many of our Senior Counselors and mental health assistants have bachelor’s degrees. Our clinical services department operates as a team to ensure that each patient receives the care and treatment they need so that they can successfully transition home or to a less-restrictive setting.

Recreational Therapy - Our recreation therapists plan a wide variety of recreational opportunities for the children. Each of the activities has a therapeutic value while providing our kids with creative and physical outlets. The organized activities teach valuable skills such as self control, getting along with others and accountability for their actions. Participation in activities, such as sports and plays, helps foster a sense of accomplishment and ability to interact with others appropriately. Art therapy helps children learn how to express their feelings through art. Coastal Harbor has a swimming pool, indoor and outdoor basketball courts and a large outdoor play area.

Education - Coastal Harbor operates a year-round school on facility grounds for our residents. The school is certified by the state of Georgia and provides regular and special education programs. Many of the residents who enter our program have had long-term struggles in school settings due to behavior problems, learning disabilities, or a combination of both. That is why it is essential that we provide them with every opportunity for academic success.

Administration - Our CEO is part of our Leadership Team that includes our department directors (clinical services, nursing, physicians/psychiatrists, admissions, medical records, risk management, etc.) who meet each day to address any issues or concerns related to the care and safety or our patients and staff. This team continuously monitors the treatment services we provide to our patients, and looks for ways that we can make improvements that will have a positive impact upon our patients and staff.

Admissions - Our intake and admissions department handles all the calls for acute and residential care. Intake assessments are free of charge, and may be scheduled at anytime 24-hours a day, seven days a week. The assessment usually takes an hour, after which the physician must make a determination regarding admission. If the physician determines the patient has not reached a level that would necessitate hospitalization, the intake counselor will provide them with referrals for appropriate services. Referrals for admission to our residential treatment program can be mailed or faxed directly to the intake and admissions department for a review. A disposition will be immediately provided once all pertinent or requested information is received and reviewed.
